Hi, my name’s Marie, I’m a nutrition coach. My approach is to empower you through education to choose the method that best suits you based on evidence based principles. With our support I want you to feel confident to take autonomy over your health and performance long-term.

My primary area of interest is S&C, however, both movement & nutrition make up the lifestyle component of physical health. So it has become increasingly important to me to look at the whole person. That is why I decided to study Nutrition at MNU.

These one-off nutrition consults are for someone who is keen to change & wants the knowledge to unlock their goals.

It’s important to understand the difference between reliability & validity.
Reliability: Indicates the degree to which the measurement technique is consistent across multiple tests. Reliability is important to show accurate change.
Validity: The extent to which a measurement actually measures what it proposes to measure. Validity is important for the accuracy of a measure.

 

Body composition assessments can be useful as a tracking method, however, I would discourage using them as a one-off “snapshot.”All measurements are actually predictions. The only way to measure body fat exactly is via cadavers! There are 2,3 & 4-Compartment Models. The 4-Compartment Model is the gold standard.For those that wish to avail of further testing, we refer to The Beacon Sports Lab.
A food diary gives an insight into your nutritional habits, think of it as giving a snapshot at a birds eye view.

 

Here are some tips:
  1. Detail ✨ Details matter, everything that passes your lips should be recorded. Liquids too!
  2. Don’t leave it until the end of the day ✏️Fill out your food diary as you go, have a notes section on your phone. Recall at the end of a day leads to inaccuracies.
  3. Portion out your food before you weigh it. Zero the scales, and weigh your empty bowl. Then put your normal portion in the bowl BEFORE you weigh it to record in your food diary.
  4. If recording in MFP, etc. Remember your goals are individual to you. We are unconcerned about the app’s algorithm definition of “good or bad”. We are using these apps as a tool to record not track.

I initially met with Marie at a point where I had lost some weight independently, but felt quite unsure about how to move forward in a sustainable manner that complimented my strength training. After completing a comprehensive assessment of my nutrition, eating habits, lifestyle and training history, Marie developed a clear approach that I could modulate depending on my goals, be it fat loss, weight maintenance or gaining.
